Finally figured out why my snake plant was getting soft at the base—I was watering it way too much, even though the soil looked dry on top. Turns out the pot didn't have drainage holes, which I somehow missed for months. Repotted it into something with proper drainage and I haven't watered in three weeks. It's already looking tighter and healthier. If yours seems to be declining for no reason, check your drainage first.
