Finally got my snake plant to produce a pup after two years of basically ignoring it

Finally got my snake plant to produce a pup after two years of basically ignoring it. I think that's the secret honestly—I water it maybe once a month and it sits in indirect light near my window. I'd share a photo if I could, but the new growth is coming in nicely. Anyone else find these things actually thrive on neglect? I'm curious if mine's just lucky or if I've accidentally figured out what they actually need.
