I finally figured out why my snake plant looked so sad for the first year—I was watering it way too much

I finally figured out why my snake plant looked so sad for the first year—I was watering it way too much! Once I let the soil dry out completely between waterings, it perked right up and even started putting out new growth. Now it's my easiest plant by far, which feels like a win since I only have three. Has anyone else had that experience where less attention actually helped?
