I finally figured out why my snake plant was getting mushy—I was watering it way too often because I felt guilty about neglecting it. Turns out these guys actually prefer being ignored a bit. Now I water mine maybe once a month and it's thriving. If you have one that's struggling, try backing off the water and giving it bright indirect light. Took me two years to learn that lesson the hard way, but my sansevieria is looking healthier than ever now.
