I finally figured out why my snake plant was getting soft at the base—I was watering it way too often

I finally figured out why my snake plant was getting soft at the base—I was watering it way too often. Switched to watering maybe once a month and it's perked up completely. I'm still learning when things actually need water versus when I just think they do. Anyone else struggle with that? I have a photo of it now looking way healthier if I could upload it here.
