I finally figured out why my Zamioculcas zamiifolia looked so pale last year—I was watering it far too often. Once I dialed that back to every three weeks and moved it to bright indirect light, the new leaflets came in with that deep, glossy green I'd been missing. It's honestly one of the most forgiving plants I own, which is saying something with eleven in my collection. If you're new to houseplants, this species is genuinely worth starting with.
