I finally figured out why my ZZ plant looked so dull for years—I was watering it way too often. Turns out it genuinely prefers to dry out between waterings, and now that I've backed off, the leaflets have this gorgeous shine I'd forgotten about. It's honestly the most forgiving plant I own, which feels fitting since I clearly wasn't doing it any favors at first.
