I finally figured out why my ZZ plant looked so sad those first couple of years—I was watering it like it actually needed me. Turns out the thing is basically immortal if you just leave it alone and let the soil dry out completely. Now mine's put out three new fronds this spring, and I honestly can't remember the last time I checked on it. Honestly the easiest win in my little collection.
