I'm finally getting somewhere with my Monstera deliciosa after months of frustration

I'm finally getting somewhere with my Monstera deliciosa after months of frustration! It started dropping leaves like crazy until I realized I was watering on a fixed schedule instead of checking the soil first. Now I only water when the top inch feels dry, and the new growth coming in has those gorgeous fenestrations I was hoping for. Does anyone else struggle with overwatering, or is it just me? I'm still learning to read what my plants actually need versus what I think they need.
