I've finally figured out why my ZZ plant was looking so sluggish—I was watering it way too often. Turns out those glossy leaflets are basically telling you "I'm fine, back off." Now I water maybe once every three weeks and it's absolutely thriving. If you've got one that seems a bit sad, just let the soil dry out completely between waterings and watch it perk up. They really do live up to the "impossible to kill" reputation once you stop fussing with them.
