I've had my Epipremnum aureum trailing for about three years now, and I finally worked out why it was growing so slowly indoors. Turns out in my arid climate, the air humidity around it was genuinely too low—the aerial roots were shrivelling before they could establish. I moved it closer to a humidifier and now it's actually putting out new growth. It's a forgiving plant, sure, but it still has limits.
