I've had my Ficus lyrata for about four months now, and I'm still figuring out the watering schedule

I've had my Ficus lyrata for about four months now, and I'm still figuring out the watering schedule. It dropped two leaves last month, which totally stressed me out, but the new growth coming in looks really healthy. I think I was overwatering before. Does anyone else struggle with knowing when the soil is *actually* dry enough? I'm keeping mine near a bright window in my tropical climate, and that seems to help a lot.
