I've had my Ficus lyrata for about four months now and I'm still figuring out the watering rhythm

I've had my Ficus lyrata for about four months now and I'm still figuring out the watering rhythm. I live in a humid tropical climate which helps, but I'm worried I'm overwatering—the soil never seems to fully dry out. A few lower leaves have started looking a bit pale. Has anyone else struggled with this? I'd love to know if there's a way to tell if it's getting too much water before things get worse. I have a photo I could share if needed.
