I've had my Ficus lyrata for about four months now and I'm still trying to figure out the watering schedule

I've had my Ficus lyrata for about four months now and I'm still trying to figure out the watering schedule. It seemed happy at first, but lately the lower leaves keep dropping and I'm worried I'm overwatering. I live in a tropical climate so humidity isn't the problem. Has anyone else struggled with this, or am I just being impatient? I'd love to hear how often you water yours.
