I've had my Ficus lyrata for about four months now and it's finally pushing out a new leaf after dropping two when I first brought it home

I've had my Ficus lyrata for about four months now and it's finally pushing out a new leaf after dropping two when I first brought it home. I think the problem was overwatering—I was trying too hard to keep it happy. Now I water only when the top inch of soil is dry and it seems much happier in my east-facing window. Has anyone else struggled with the dramatic leaf drop, or is it just me being impatient?
