I've had my Ficus lyrata for three years now, and I'm finally figuring out why the lower leaves kept dropping. Turns out in my arid climate, I was overwatering out of guilt. Once I matched watering to actual evaporation rates and stopped fussing, it settled right down. The new growth is noticeably larger too. If yours is struggling, resist the urge to water—let the soil dry between waterings and your fig will thank you.
