I've had my peace lily for about eight months now and I'm still figuring out its moods

I've had my peace lily for about eight months now and I'm still figuring out its moods. Mine seems to prefer bright indirect light over the shadier spot I started it in, though I keep reading they're supposed to tolerate low light just fine. Either way, it's finally putting out new growth after looking a bit droopy when I first got it. Has anyone else found theirs prefers lighter conditions than expected? I'd love to know if I'm just lucky or if I'm missing something about their actual preferences.
