I've had my Pothos for about eight months now and I'm finally seeing some real growth after a shaky start

I've had my Pothos for about eight months now and I'm finally seeing some real growth after a shaky start. I kept it too wet at first, which I didn't realize until the stems started getting mushy. Moved it to a brighter spot and backed off on watering, and now it's actually putting out new leaves. Nothing fancy, but I'm weirdly proud of it. Does anyone else find that Epipremnum aureum is slower to recover than people say, or was that just my mistake?
