I've had my pothos for almost a year now and it's finally trailing beautifully from the shelf above my kitchen window

I've had my pothos for almost a year now and it's finally trailing beautifully from the shelf above my kitchen window. I'm still figuring out the watering schedule though—some weeks I swear I'm overwatering, other weeks the soil dries out so fast I'm not sure if that's normal or if I'm doing something wrong. Does anyone else struggle with getting the balance right, or is mine just particularly thirsty? I'm in a mediterranean climate so the heat might be playing a role, but I'd love to hear how others manage theirs.
