I've had my Sansevieria trifasciata for about four months now and I'm still not sure if I'm watering it right

I've had my Sansevieria trifasciata for about four months now and I'm still not sure if I'm watering it right. It seems happy enough—the leaves are upright and that deep green is gorgeous—but I keep second-guessing myself since it's supposed to be drought-tolerant. I probably check the soil way too often. Does anyone else struggle with holding back on watering succulents, or is it just me? Would love to know your approach.
