I've had my Sansevieria trifasciata for about six months now and I'm still figuring out the watering schedule

I've had my Sansevieria trifasciata for about six months now and I'm still figuring out the watering schedule. I thought I was underwatering it, but then I realized the soil stays damp way longer than I expected in my humid tropical climate. Has anyone else had trouble adjusting their watering routine when moving to a hotter, wetter region? I'm worried about root rot even though snake plants are supposed to be so forgiving.
