I've had my Sansevieria trifasciata for three years now, and I finally stopped watering it so much. I used to think the "neglect it" advice was exaggerated, but honestly, my plant looked dull and soft until I stretched the watering interval to every four or five weeks. In my arid climate it's thriving now—the new growth is noticeably firmer and more upright. Turns out the yellow tipping I blamed on minerals was mostly from chronic overwatering.
