I've had my snake plant for about eight months now and I'm still not totally sure how often to water it

I've had my snake plant for about eight months now and I'm still not totally sure how often to water it. I keep second-guessing myself because the soil takes forever to dry out in my tropical humidity. I'd love to know if anyone else struggles with this in similar climates—do you water less frequently even though it's warm and humid? Mine seems fine, but I feel like I'm either overwatering or underwatering, and I wish I could read its mind!
