I've had my snake plant for about eight months now and it's finally putting out a new leaf—I was starting to think I'd killed it

I've had my snake plant for about eight months now and it's finally putting out a new leaf—I was starting to think I'd killed it! Turns out I was watering it way too much. Now I barely touch it and it's thriving. Has anyone else found that snake plants just sulk if you fuss over them too much? I'm wondering if mine would do better with even less water during winter here in the Mediterranean, or if I should stick with what's working.
