I've had my snake plant for about eight months now and it's finally putting out a new leaf

I've had my snake plant for about eight months now and it's finally putting out a new leaf. I know they're supposed to be low-maintenance, but I was starting to wonder if mine was just... content to stay exactly as it was. I kept it pretty dry in my mediterranean spot, which I thought was right, but maybe I was being too cautious. Has anyone else had one that took ages to show any growth? I'm curious if I just needed more patience or if there was something I could have done differently.
