I've had my snake plant for about two years now and honestly thought I was killing it because the leaves weren't growing

I've had my snake plant for about two years now and honestly thought I was killing it because the leaves weren't growing. Turns out I was watering it way too much! Once I backed off and let the soil dry out completely between waterings, it actually took off. Now I'm getting new growth all the time. Has anyone else struggled with overwatering theirs, or am I just the only one who had to learn this lesson the hard way?
