I've had my ZZ plant for three years now and finally feel confident saying I've cracked the watering rhythm. Mine sits in a bright corner of my study in a fairly arid climate, and the real breakthrough was accepting that Zamioculcas zamiifolia genuinely prefers to dry out completely between waterings. I was overwatering initially, even with well-draining soil. Now I only water when the potting mix is bone dry—probably every two to three weeks in my conditions. The glossy pinnate leaves have never looked better, and I've noticed new growth emerging much more reliably since I pulled back.
