Just realized my Monstera's been getting leggy because I kept it too far from the window

Just realized my Monstera's been getting leggy because I kept it too far from the window. Moved it closer to my south-facing glass last month and the new leaves are already way fuller with better fenestration. I wish I'd done this sooner instead of assuming it was happy in the corner! Has anyone else found their Monstera suddenly takes off once you give it proper light? I'd love to know what conditions work best in your climate.
