My Epipremnum aureum has been trailing beautifully for months now, but I'm realizing I have no idea when or how to actually prune it

My Epipremnum aureum has been trailing beautifully for months now, but I'm realizing I have no idea when or how to actually prune it. Should I just cut it back when it gets too long, or is there a better time of year? I'm also wondering if I should propagate the cuttings or compost them. It's doing so well in my tropical setup that I'm almost afraid to touch it, but I know it probably needs some maintenance eventually. Has anyone else struggled with this?
