My Monstera finally split a leaf after two years of just climbing

My Monstera finally split a leaf after two years of just climbing. I wasn't doing anything special—same spot by the west window, same watering schedule—so I'm wondering if it just needed time to mature. The new fenestrations are small but they're there. Has anyone else had their Monstera suddenly decide to split after a long wait, or does mine just move at its own pace? Either way, I'm pleased enough with it.
