My Monstera's finally putting out fenestrated leaves after sitting in a corner for two years

My Monstera's finally putting out fenestrated leaves after sitting in a corner for two years. I moved it closer to the window and stopped fussing with it, which I think was the key. Turns out I was watering too often for my climate. Now I'm curious though—does anyone else find that these things are slower to mature than people say, or was mine just being stubborn?
