My pothos finally grew its first aerial root and I'm weirdly excited about it

My pothos finally grew its first aerial root and I'm weirdly excited about it. I've had it for maybe six months just sitting on a shelf, and suddenly it's decided to climb. I'm still not totally sure if I should give it a moss pole or just let it trail—does anyone find one works better than the other in a drier climate? I'd post a photo if I could, but basically it's a small brown bump on the stem and I'm treating it like a major achievement haha.
