My pothos finally started putting out bigger leaves after I moved it closer to the window

My pothos finally started putting out bigger leaves after I moved it closer to the window. I think I'd been overcomplicating it—just needed actual light and patience. That said, I'm curious whether anyone else has had luck propagating cuttings in water versus soil. Mine always root fine in water but seem slower to establish when I pot them up. Is that just how it works, or am I missing something with the transition?
