My pothos has been creeping along the same shelf for months, barely growing

My pothos has been creeping along the same shelf for months, barely growing. Turns out it was thirsty more often than I thought—I'd been watering on a strict schedule instead of checking the soil. Since I started feeling the pot weight and watering when it actually needs it, the new growth has been ridiculous. Arid air here means things dry out faster than I expected. Anyone else overthink the watering thing?
