My snake plant finally pushed out a new leaf after sitting dormant for months

My snake plant finally pushed out a new leaf after sitting dormant for months. I'd been watering it every other week until I realised that was overkill—switched to monthly and it's suddenly thriving. Thing is, I kept it in a corner with decent indirect light, nothing special. Wondering if anyone else has found their snake plants actually prefer neglect, or was mine just sulking from overwatering?
