I've learned the hard way that these things really do need you to leave them alone—overwatering kills them faster than anything. Mine almost didn't make it my first year. Now I water maybe once every three weeks and it's thriving in a corner with medium light. If you've got one that looks sad, resist the urge to fuss with it and just be patient.
