My ZZ plant is finally starting to spread after sitting there looking the same for like two years. I think I was overwatering it early on—kept second-guessing myself because it looked so slow. Turns out it really does just want you to leave it alone and let the soil dry out completely between waterings. Now I'm getting new stems popping up regularly. If you have one that feels stuck, honestly just neglect it a bit and see what happens.
