Notes on my Fiddle Leaf Fig

I've had my Ficus lyrata for two years now, and I finally figured out why the lower leaves kept dropping—it wasn't underwatering like everyone suggests, but inconsistent light. Since moving it away from the south-facing window in my arid climate, it's actually thriving. The trick seems to be bright indirect light rather than the intense direct sun that scorches the leaves here. Anyone else struggle with this species, or did you crack the code faster than I did?
