Notes on my Fiddle Leaf Fig

I've had my Ficus lyrata for about eight months now, and I'm still figuring out the watering rhythm—the posts I've read seem to contradict each other. Mine's in a cold room where it barely moves, so I'm wondering if the usual "water when top inch is dry" advice actually applies to slower growth? I'm terrified of root rot, but I also don't want it to suffer. Anyone else grow theirs in cooler conditions? Would love to hear how you manage it.
