I've had my Ficus lyrata for two years now and finally figured out why the lower leaves kept dropping—it wasn't the watering, it was the air. I moved it away from the heating vent in winter and started misting more often, and the new growth is noticeably healthier. The leaves are actually staying on now. If yours is struggling, don't assume you're overwatering. Sometimes it's just the humidity in your space.
