Notes on my Fiddle Leaf Fig

I've been growing Ficus lyrata for three years now and finally stopped obsessing over watering schedules—turns out mine prefers to dry out almost completely between drinks, which contradicts half the care guides out there. I think it's because my place is so dry and bright. Has anyone else found their lyrata actually thrives on neglect? I'm curious if the arid conditions here are just changing what the plant actually needs versus what the textbooks say.
