Notes on my Fiddle Leaf Fig

I've had my Ficus lyrata for two years now, and I finally figured out why the lower leaves kept dropping—it wasn't underwatering like everyone assumes, but inconsistent light. Mine sits maybe eight feet from an east-facing window in my arid climate, and once I stopped moving it around, the new growth came in pristine. I know fiddle leaf figs have a reputation for being fussy, but I think they're just particular about what they actually need versus what gardeners *think* they need.
