Notes on my Fiddle Leaf Fig

My fiddle leaf fig has finally stopped dropping leaves after I moved it away from the heating vent and stuck to a watering schedule instead of guessing. Turns out I was drowning the thing. Now it's actually putting out new growth, which feels like a win after two years of thinking I'd killed it. Anyone else find these temperamental, or was it just my arid climate working against me?
