Notes on my Peace Lily

I've had my Spathiphyllum wallisii for three years now, and I'm finally accepting that it won't thrive in my arid climate no matter how much I fuss. The humidity in my desert home just works against it—I'm constantly misting and it still gets spider mite problems. I'm considering moving it to a shadier bathroom where the moisture actually lingers. Has anyone else given up on keeping peace lilies in dry climates, or am I missing something obvious?
