Notes on my Pothos

I've had my Epipremnum aureum trailing over a shelf for about three years now, and I'm only just realizing how much happier it is since I moved it away from direct afternoon sun. I always thought pothos were basically indestructible, but mine kept getting these weird pale patches on the newer leaves. Turns out I was drowning it in light! Has anyone else found their pothos thrives better with less intensity than expected? I'm curious if it's a Mediterranean climate thing or just my setup.
