Notes on my Pothos

I've had my pothos trailing down a shelf for three years now and honestly it's the least demanding thing I own, but I keep second-guessing myself on watering. The soil dries out fast in my mediterranean apartment, so I've stopped waiting for the "soak and dry" thing everyone mentions and just give it a drink when the top inch feels papery. Seems happier that way. Does anyone else adjust the classic care advice based on their actual climate, or am I just overthinking this?
