Notes on my Snake Plant

I've had my snake plant for about 8 months now and it's finally putting out a new leaf, which felt like a huge win since I wasn't sure I was watering it right at first. I basically ignored it for weeks at a time and it seemed to like that better than when I was fussing over it. Has anyone else found their snake plant suddenly takes off once you just leave it alone? I'm curious if mine is just forgiving or if that's normal for these.
