Notes on my Snake Plant

I've had my snake plant for about eight months now and it's finally starting to grow a new leaf, which honestly felt like it was taking forever. I water it maybe once a month and leave it in a bright corner, but I'm still not 100% sure if I'm doing it right. Is it normal for them to grow this slowly, or should I be doing something different? My other plants are doing better, so I'm wondering if I'm just being impatient or if there's something I'm missing.
