Notes on my Swiss Cheese Plant

I've been growing my Monstera deliciosa for three years now, and I'm finally seeing consistent fenestration on the new leaves—it's taken patience, but the mature growth is worth it. I've kept it in bright, indirect light and let the soil dry between waterings, which seems to be the key in my tropical climate. Has anyone else noticed their Monstera takes longer to develop those characteristic holes when it's younger, or is that just my experience?
