Notes on my Swiss Cheese Plant

I've had my Monstera deliciosa for about eight months now and I'm finally starting to see those signature fenestrations appear on the new leaves—it's honestly so satisfying! I was worried at first that I wasn't giving it enough light, but it seems happier near my east-facing window. Does anyone else find that the aerial roots can get a bit messy looking? I'm not sure if I should try to guide them or just let them do their thing.
